Industry 4.0
What Industry 4.0 means?
Industry 4.0, or the fourth industrial revolution, means a shift to digital and smart production where machines, sensors and data work together in real time. It is the connection of IoT (Internet of Things), artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing and data analytics, which enables more precise, faster and more sustainable processes.
💡Fact, development of smart factories
The first use of the term “Industry 4.0” dates back to 2011 in Germany. Today it is the central framework of European industrial policy, with the goal of smart, sustainable and connected production that reduces losses and increases quality.
Benefits of Industry 4.0 for customers
The smart factory system changes the base of competitiveness. The focus moves from price to traceability, flexibility and responsiveness.
Industry 4.0 brings
-
higher productivity and fewer errors, through sensors and data analytics
-
shorter delivery times, through digital order traceability
-
better energy efficiency
-
lower maintenance costs, through predictive fault detection
-
higher flexibility for small and medium series
-
precise quality control
-
fast tool optimization with 3D scanning and AI analysis

Extra Forge, Smart Forge 4.0 Smart factory
In line with our slogan “Forging the future”, Extra Forge d.o.o. already builds a real smart factory, Smart Forge 4.0. From the first day we follow the philosophy of digital traceability and technical excellence, which gives us
-
connection of all key machines into one computer network
-
process monitoring through sensors and IoT systems
-
use of AI and 3D Keyence scanning for instant tool optimization and dimension checks
-
real time energy optimization
-
full traceability of orders from material input to final forging
First smart hammers in Europe
The first CNC controlled forging hammers were developed in 1993 in Finland and Germany. Today Extra Forge continues this line with a computer controlled 50 kJ hammer and a 1000 T screw press, which provide full digital traceability.
How the smart factory improves forging quality
Every blow, temperature and force in forging is recorded digitally. This ensures
-
full traceability of every forging
-
higher precision in dimension control
-
less scrap and better material use
-
faster error detection and correction
-
constant insight into energy use and efficiency
Q&A, Digital forging in practice
What does “smart factory” mean in forging?
Machines and people work in a connected way, every blow and every temperature value is recorded. This enables fast optimization, higher quality and strong customer trust.
Why is Industry 4.0 important for customers?
Because it brings faster responses, higher precision and lower risk of errors. With smart control customers receive high quality forgings with proven traceability and repeatability.
